I was given the name Brian Douglas Taylor far too early in my life for me to
have had any say in the matter. These days, I reserve that name for official legal
purposes alone. Professionally, I am known as Douglas Darkwater.
I began painting in 1999. I don’t know what sparked my interest at the time.
It was just something that I felt like doing. I began experimenting with oil paints
with various mediums. After years of honing my style with oils, I began to tinker
with acrylics. I still work with oils from time to time but I am enjoying the
variety of colors and mediums available with acrylics.
Since I began painting, I have been involved in several exhibits. My work has
been displayed at the Lyndon House in Athens, GA, the Pickens County Art Museum
(including the 2001 “Pure Oil” exhibit), and the Spartanburg Art Museum. I have
also been published in USC Upstate’s “Writers Inc”.
