SUSAN JOHANN is a photographer whose work is part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington , DC .
 
Johann’s fine art work of floral and other nature forms has been seen in a solo show at Condeso/Lawler Gallery in New York , at the John Stevenson Gallery, New York , The Platinum Gallery, Santa Fe , Hemphill Fine Art Washington DC and the Michael Lord Gallery in Milwaukee .   The art work is in the corporate collections of Marriot and Bolton-St John.
 
Her portraits of noted persons have been featured in magazines including The New York Times, American Theater Magazine, Time, Detour, Newsweek, The New Yorker, and innumerable book covers for Penguin, Random House, Villard as well as CD covers for Decca, Classic Masters, and others.
 
Johann is at work on a book of portraits and interviews with contemporary playwrights. Among the one hundred major playwrights photographed are Arthur Miller, Edward Albee, Wendy Wasserstein, August Wilson, Sam Shepard, and Tom Stoppard.
 
Her image for the Broadway musical, The Scarlet Pimpernel, for Grey Media, looked out over Times Square , four stories high and a block long.
 
Among her photography awards are the PDN/Nikon Award and a Golden Pencil from the Art Directors Guild.
